There may be memos re NEW petitions to aid the Canada Census
Committee in obtaining the release of the 1911 Canadian census
records -- which should have been released June 1, 2003.
Draft forms of the petitions are now approved, for Senate, House
of Commons and Non-Canadians. [Canadians residing in other
areas with a Canadian address would use the Canadian petition].
Hopefully, these will soon be released and with family reunions,
Mahone Bay 2004 celebration, the 2004 Acadien Mondial and
others, there should be many occasions to gather signatures.
We will be holding the petitions until a date in the fall, at least.
Many of us are searching for someone -- ones who have become
lost, additions to our family trees -- the answers could be on the
1911 census. I understand this is ready to go online with the
1901 and 1906 as soon as transfer is made from the Chief Statistician
to Ian Wilson of National Archives. I want to see 1911 added to
http://automatedgenealogy.com/index.html
Please understand when memos are posted -- this is not for the good
of one or two, but for many -- whether in Canada or otherwise.
My wish: A reason to have super, huge bonfires or fireworks to
celebrate July 1, 2004 AND release of our 1911 unrestricted census
records. Sincerely hope I will have a great deal of company!!
