We're here. There also Rootsweb Lists for Cantey and Canty. Often there are lists and
boards for different spellings. Sometimes they are combined since spelling has not always
been standard.
Give us some specifics. Use a new subject for next query please. Try using a name with
dates and location for one of your proven ancestors. {John X. SMITH, b abt 1735,
Barbadoes, d Charlestown, SC, 1790} {Mary X. SMITH, b May 1824, Chesterfield District,
parents unknown} Give us a "simple" request. I'm suggesting that you do not
ask for everything you need at once. Let us know if you have searched a particular place
or places and have found fact a but not fact b. This narrows your query and keeps cousins
from wasting their time finding something you already have.
Your "hello" won't get you any where. If you have nothing to start on, look
around and find family papers,Bible, photos with relationships noted, death certificates,
wills etc. US Census records are currently open only down to 1930. There are other online
sources for later dates but they may not be as reliable.
If you are new at this, don't be shy about letting us know. We can help all who are
inquisitive and willing to work. Always seek documentation before accepting what you find
or are given. Just because you found it online or in a published book doesn't make
something true. That family tradition may hold a kernel of truth in the middle of
incorrect details. Birth, death and marriage certificates are relatively modern documents.
We'll be looking for your next post.
