In my research, I found that I have four or five lines in my famly
history which qualify for First Family of Ohio and one of them is a part
of the Cantwell family. In order to qualify there are very strict
rules of proof - which is as it should be - and I have not been able to
find that proof for Margaret Cantwell, and I hope that another Cantwell
family member could help me.
Margaret Cantwell is the daughter of William Cantwell and Nancy Ann
Williams Cantwell.
Margaret was born in Ohio in 1804, she married David Jaques and they had
a family and lived long lives in the area of Mansfield, Ohio. David
and Margaret are buried in the Mansfield Cemetery.
I need to have documentary proof that Margaret is the child of William
and Nancy Ann.
I haven't been able to find a will for William Cantwell which might list
his children. I have several property records which show William and
Ann and a deed involving David (her husband) and William Cantwell, but
these do not prove she was their child and born in Ohio in 1804. I have
information from Generation of the Uprights and I have a printout from
the ancestral file, but these are not acceptable for my purpose.
I also have pictures I believe to be David and Margaret, and I have a
will of Margaret's brother, Thomas, which I could share with anyone
interested.
Does anyone have information which would lead me to these documents?.
Thank you for whatever help you can give me. AMELIA
