In the 11/14/99 Cantrell Digest Lou Ann Murphy (Brondak(a)aol.com) wrote about
the Cantrell-Watson connection. I see that mary Elmina Cantrell and Samuel
Abner Cantrell were born in Blount Cty.,AL. Also that Abraham Cantrell was
married first to Matilda Watson and second to Lucy Watson Lovelace.
I am wondering if we could have a connection. My grandfather was listed in
the 1870 Weakley County, TN. Census as a servant boy living with W.H. and
Nancy Cantrell. His name was Henry Watson. He had three brothers living
with three other families in the county. The older two were shown as having
been born in MS. I was told that most of those that went into TN traveled
together. Henry married a Bullington whose family came from AL.,some from
Franklin Co. AL.
I have not made a connection with the Watsons and Cantrell but feel the four
boys were with relatives.
Several years ago I visited with a Watson in Huntsville, AR. that had a
picture on his wall of a Cantrell that came from an old Watson trunk. We did
not establish any kinship. Anyhow, there may be a clue in here somewhere to
search.
