Just wanted to take a minute and let you in on a tip that worked
wonders
for
me. I have been posting information on the internet for two years
requesting
members of my great-uncles descendants to contact me. I did finally
make
connection with one family. I still had two uncles and their families
missing. During Memorial Weekend I set up the word processor and wrote out
what I hoped wouldn't sound like the usual form letter that we all at one
time or another threw in the trash ( pre-genealogy days). I sent out via
snail mail over 20 letters to one nearby city to all of the surnames I was
looking for. A miracle occurred. One was returned No known person, by
Wed.
evening my phone was ringing in regards to the letters and Continued
through
the next day. I still continue to get calls in regards to the letter.
Not
only do I have one more uncle and all of his descendants but I am building
a
good base of material that others could possibly use.I have promised
all
that their names and living relatives will not be posted nor shared with
out
their consent. There is a possibility of descendants of a brother to
my
2nd
great-grandfather.Want to know the odds on that happening via the
internet?
Not very good.
Anyway I hope you can use and enjoy the tip.
