CANTRALL, ARTHUR W. (ARTIE) - Of R. R., Athens, died suddenly at 2:30 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 21, 1955, at residence, age 78. Survived by a nephew, Henry
Cantrall, Athens; and four nieces, Mrs. Lois Reinders, Mrs. Hazel Estill, and Mrs.
Fay Bray, all of Springfield, and Mrs. Jean Wolfe of California. Remains to
Mott & Son funeral home, Athens, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday,
and where services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Rev. J. W. Armstrong
officiating. Burial in Indian Point cemetery, near Athens.
Obituary - Petersburg (Illinois) Observer, 3 January 1908
Charles H. Cantrall died at his home east of Athens Friday morning at 7
o'clock, from Bright's disease, aged 52 years, 10 months, and 13 days. He was
born
near Athens Feb. 14, 1855, and has resided here all of his life. In 1888, he
was united in marriage to Miss Florence Council, and to this union were born
three children, all of whom survive him. Besides these children, he leaves a
widow and an aged mother. Funeral services were held from the residence
Sunday at 11 o'clock, Rev. Weedon officiating. Interment was made in Indian Point
Cemetery. The Van Meter Lodge of Masons had charge of the service.

Cantrall - Died Wednesday morning, July 13, 1911 at 4 o'clock at St. John's
hospital, this city, Charles O. Cantrall, of Athens, aged 56 years and 7
months.
He is survived by two brothers, Robert, of Athens, and Max, of Springfield;
two sisters, Mrs. Nancy Ann Mallory of Louisiana, Mo., and Miss Clarrisey
Cantrall, of Athens.
The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon from the Lebanon church,
the Rev. J. T. Cherry, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Lebanon
cemetery.

Clara Campbell, 79, Dies At Home
Mrs. Clara P. Campbell, 79, of 1625 East Edwards Street, formerly of
Illiopolis, died at 9 p.m. yesterday at the residence.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Frank Prather of Buckhart; two sons, Howard of
Gillespie, and Owen of Benton Harbor, Mich.; and four grandchildren.
She was a member of the Illiopolis Christian church, where funeral services
will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Campbell's nephew, Rev. Harold Owen
of Casey, will officiate and interment will be in Riverside cemetery. The
body will be removed from Wilson Park funeral home at Rochester to the Thomas C.
Smith Sons funeral home at 4 p.m. tomorrow.

CANTRALL - Goff Cantrall of Athens died in St. John's hospital at 10 p.m.
Sunday, Jan. 26, 1936, aged 41 years. Survived by wife, Melinda; four sisters,
Mrs. Effie Graham, Mrs. Minnie Cline, and Mrs. Lillie Brown, all of Athens, and
Mrs. Stella Pittman of Greenview; and two brothers, Luther of Athens, and
Thomas of Petersburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at
the home of Luther Cantrall in Athens. Rev. G. C. Forwood will officiate.
Interment will be in Oakland cemetery, Petersburg. Mott and Sons, Athens,
directing.

Funerals of Mrs. Cantrall and of Henry Cantrall at Athens
The double funeral of Henry Cantrall and his mother, Mrs. Sarah S. Cantrall,
was held from the residence at 10:30 Monday morning. The funeral was one of
the largest ever seen in Menard county. A line of vehicles over a mile in
length followed the two hearses to Indian Point cemetery, where the interment was
made. The funeral of Henry Cantrall was under the auspices of the Athens IOOF.
Henry Cantrall was the son of Samuel D. and Sarah Cantrall. He was born
February 28 (1849) on the farm where he died. He was wedded on January 1, 1873 to
Miss Emma A. Graham, of Athens, who with four children, Alvin, Arthur,
Samuel, and Miss Vernie Cantrall, survive him.
Mrs. Sarah S. Cantrall was a native of Kentucky, and was born November 7,
1820. She came to Sangamon county with her parents when she was six years of
age. Her maiden name was Alexander. In March 1837, she was married to Samuel
Cantrall, who died in 1884. She was a member of the Christian church for
seventy years. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Reesburg, of Washington
state, and two daughters, Mrs. Frank Horn, who resides in Nebraska, and Mrs.
Isaac Bates, who resides in Oklahoma.

CANTRALL, McDONALD - Of 416 South College street, died at 7:30 a.m. Saturday,
March 27, 1937, at St. John's hospital, age 40 years. Survived by his wife,
Pearl; one daughter, Eleanor; parents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Crum, city; one
brother, Harry, Williamsville; one sister, Mrs. Edna Pereboom, Jerseyville.
Remains to Ellinger & Kunz funeral home and will be removed at 2:30 p.m.
Sunday to residence of Mr. and Mrs. Crum, 102 South Grand avenue west, where
funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial in Indian Point cemetery, near
Athens.

MYRON CANTRALL DIES AT SPRINGFIELD HOSPITAL
Myron Cantrall, detective of Springfield police department, a member of the
force for nearly twenty years, died at Springfield hospital, Saturday,
September 9, 1939, at the age of 41 years.
Detective Cantrall entered the hospital on August 31 and underwent a surgical
operation the following day for the removal of a ruptured appendix. Failing
to rally from the effects of his illness, which was of a gangrenous nature, he
grew steadily worse and on last Friday he relapsed into a semi-conscious
condition from general blood poisoning.
Deceased was appointed to the Springfield police department January 1, 1920.
Myron was born in Athens April 11, 1898. He was the son of the late Newton
and Alice Matthews Cantrall. He received his education in the Athens, and
attended the Christian church Sunday school.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Franks Cantrall; two brothers, Lee of
Springfield, and Weller of Phoenix, Arizona; two sisters, Mrs. C. E. (Maggie)
Canterbury of Cantrall, and Mrs. A. F. (Jennie) Dawson of Macomb; and several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the residence in Springfield at 2:30 p.m.
Monday, September 11, Rev. O. N. Morgan officiating. St. Paul's lodge No. 500 AF
&
AM conducted the rites at the grave. Burial in Oak Ridge cemetery,
Springfield.

Cantrall - Died, at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 6, 1914, at his home in
Athens, of heart trouble, Thomas B. Cantrall, aged 55 years.
Deceased was born in 1858 near Cantrall. He is survived by his widow; one
son, Thomas; one daughter, Anna Cantrall; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Tackett and
Allie Cantrall, both of Wiley, Ill.; and four brothers, Dr. J. W. Cantrall of
Rochester, C. Cantrall of Illiopolis, Ira Cantrall of Denver, Colo., and G. H.
Cantrall of Athens.
The funeral arrangements are not complete and will be announced later.

DEPLORABLE ACCIDENT - Mr. Thomas Cantrall, a well-known citizen of our
county, recently came to his death in the following manner: On Saturday last, while
near Fougua's mill, a short distance from Athens, the mules were frightened by
the letting off of the steam and ran and upset the wagon, throwing it upon
Mr. Cantrall, crushing his breast in so terrible a manner that he died yesterday
at 4 o'clock. Mr. Cantrall's family, consisting of a wife and twelve
children, reside in this city. He came to Sangamon County in early times, having
resided here over twenty-five years. He was the son of the venerable Levi
Cantrall of Cantrall's creek, was about 42 years of age, and one of our best
citizens. The family receives the sympathies of an extensive circle of relatives and
friends on their sudden and painful bereavement.

CANTRALL, WILLIAM M. - Of 1159 North Third Street, died at Springfield
hospital at 4 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, age 77 years. Survived by seven sons, Earl
E., Roy L., Archie L., Percy W., Fred M., Lawrence T., and John R. Cantrall; two
daughters, Mrs. Bessie H. Cantrall, and Mrs. C. S. Gorton, all of
Springfield; and one brother, Robert H. Cantrall, Athens. Remains were removed to the
residence Thursday afternoon, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.
Friday and at 2:30 p.m. at the United Brethren church, Rev. G. C. Forwood
officiating. Interment at Oak Ridge cemetery, Ellinger & Kunz in charge.
