Funeral services for Cleveland Avent Cantrell, 76, prominent DeKalb
county
farmer, were conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Keltonburg
Church of Christ by R.E. Graves of Eagleville. Burial was in the
Keltonburg
cemetery. Mr. Cantrell died at 12:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon of
last
week at his home near Smithville, following a long illness. Born in
Cannon
county April 22, 1870, he was a son of the late Leonard Cantrell and
Josephine Youngblood Cantrell. He moved to DeKalb county when a child
and
received his education there. His father was one time sheriff of Cannon
county. Mr. Cantrell was a nurseryman but had been retired for several
years. He owned considerable property in DeKalb county at the time of
his
death. He was a member of the Billdad Baptist church at
Keltonburg. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Julia Estes Cantrell;
four
daughters, Mrs. J.S. Hale of Christianburg, Va., Mrs. Nathan Cantrell
and
Mrs. Haskell Cantrell and Miss Beth Cantrell, all of Detroit; a brother,
Rance Cantrell of McMinnville; and five sisters, Mrs. Julia Webb, Mrs.
J.A.
Patton, Mrs. Will Owens and Misses Mattie Cantrell and Vera Cantrell,
all
of Smithville. Arrangements by the High Funeral company.
