Subject: Cantrell information collection.
Good Evening,
Was wondering if it is correct to list Cantrell family history on this
page.
I collect quite a bit in N. C., S. C., Ky., Tenn. and some in Ill.
during
my last tour. It is basicly family charts. However, one item I found was
that Elder Isaac Cantrell was a member of Buck Creek Church, Spartanburg
county, S. C.(The church is located just a short distant west of Mayo, S.
C.) He was chosen as a delegate to the Broad River Ass. in 1801. He was
one of the Broad River pioneer preachers. There is no mention that we are
are to find of him after 1 801. He may have emigrated or died soon after
this.
I found some papers after this that it appears that he migrated to Warren
Co., Ky and then on to what is now DeKalb Co., Tenn. But am not sure at
this point.
Will someone please check the following and see if it is cortrect. Bukt
this is part of the information that I found.
Jeremiah Cloudwho was the 6th child of William Cloud (It says the
Pioneer,
was born on the 7th of Feb. 1658 in Calne, Wiltshire Co., Enmgland.
Jeremiah and his father William Cloud both came from England to America
together. Jeremiah married Elizabeth Bailey in 1685. I could not find
where they first settled but it seems as if they lived in Rockland Manor,
New Castle Co., Pa. In 1713 his brothers chose him as the one to patent
500
acres that had been purchased by William Cloud in 1681. Then on the
15th
of
Feb. 1713, 200 acres of this land was transfered to his brother John
Clould
Elizabeth Bailey might have been the widow of Joel Bailey. There was
information on the Bailey family also if someone is interested.
Now on the charts it states that William Cloud was born @ 1690 and died in
1748 in Brandywine Hundred, New Castle Co., Pa. That he married
Elizabe5th
Hayes, @ 1719. Elizabeth Hayes was born @ 1701 and died in Feb. of
17i49
in
Brandywine Hundred, New Castle Co., Pa.
Listed as the children of Jeremiah Cloud are
Jeremiah Cloud, Jr. born Oct. 10, 1691 in Pa. He died in 1748 in East
Marlborough twps., Chester Co., Pa. and then married Ann Bailey (sp ?) in
17i10 at Brandywine Hundred, New Castle Co., Pa. Ann was born the 10th of
Oct., 1691 and died 12th Aug., 1774 in East Marlborough Twps., Chester
Co.,
Pa.
Nest is listed John Cloud. All that is know was that he was born @ 1692
in
Pa. and died in 1764. He married a lady named Sarah @ 1717 and that
Sarah
was born @ 1699.
The third child listed was Sarah Cloud born @ 1693 in zPas. who married
John
Baldwin @ 1711 and then died @ 1729.
The fourth was Hannah Cloud born @ 1694 in Pa. and she first married Caleb
Prew in 1716 and then John Baldwin in 1729. She died @ 1729. Perhaps
child
birth. No other information given.
Mordecai Cloud was born @ 1697 in Rockland Manor, New Castle Co., Pa. He
married first Sarah Chads on Feb. 12, 1714 in Phildelphia, Pa. and second
Abigail Baily - JOhnson - Wickersham on Nov. 30, 1738 in Kennett Twsp,
Chester Co., Pa. Mordecai died in 1745 in East Marlborough Twps, Chester
Co., Pa.
Daniel Cloud was born @ 1700 in Pa. and died ind 1723Elizabeth Cloud born
@
1706 in Pa. and she married JOseph Hayes in 1724. She died in 1748.
Jeremiah Cloud born 1656 and died 1717 was a cordwainer, he wored leather.
In 1687 the taxable of Brandywine Hundred shows William Cloud, Joseph
Cloud,
Joseph Cloud, Jr., Nathaniel Cloud.
I khave a copy of Jeremiah Cloud's will probated Dec. 4, 1717 in Dover,
Delaware. Is anyone interested?
