According to my notes: Zachariah Cantey was last found in Sumter District on the index to
the 1830 Sumter Census. 1850 Census for Montgomery Co., AL #186; Zachariah
"Canty" 57 years, born SC as head of household. With him were Rufus E. Cantey
25 years, born SC; Margaret L Canty 23 years, born SC; Erasmus H. Brunson 19 years, born
SC; Zachariah E. Brunston 17 years, born AL. 1993 letter from Miss Emily Brunson,
2617--27th St., Lubbock, TX 79410 quoting from a 1938 letter: " Zachariah Cantey
married Mary Ann Wilder; their daughter, Matilda Ann Cantey married James Brunson, both
died in 1833; Brunson children raised by their Cantey grandparents."
If you do the math on the 57 year old Zach--that makes him being born in 1793 or 1794.
Would this be proof enough?
I have other notes from the book on the Brunson's that was written by Ray Brunson of
Lafayette, LA. I don't know if he is still living or not. If you have any other
questions, please feel free to contact me at brewneel(a)wnonline.net.
Hope this has helped you!
