Well, I wonder about his grandparents? Maybe there is a Cantey connection there or maybe
in-law's? You defintely have the proof about the Cantey plantation story, so there has
to be a connection somewhere. Interesting puzzle.

Jill - It looks like his parents were GABRIEL MARION and ESTER/CHARLOTTE
CORDES and Francis Marion's wife was MARY VIDEAU. Haven't found any
children and his date of marriage looks like Apr. 1786 - maybe didn't marry
until late in life..... Anyway seems that there was not a Cantey mother.
