Thomas Denison may indeed be David's father and Emma's Grand father, or he
may be a grand uncle to her. The property is one of three Denison Properties
that touch each other more or less in Hartington. Across the road from
Thomas and David is a property belonging to George Denison (age47) who is
also born in Ontario, but of Irish decent. His property is about 200 hundred
acres. David's and Thomas's properties are about 100 acres each.
Macher Denison is buried in the same cemetary as William and Emma's infant
daughter, Edith Pearl. William and Emma apparently still own plots there,
albeit unused.
Other than Macher, all the rest of the Denisons on the Census are female. No
wonder is so hard to trace what became of the family.
Emma named her second son, Macher Denison Cannon. He in turn named his
eldest son Macher Hall Cannon. Hall was Macher Denison's wife's maiden name.
I have tried researching "macher" in lists of Irish first names and with the
Word Wizard. Nobody else seems ever to have heard of it.
Maybe it's a variation on Meagher (pronounced Maw her)...which the Denison's
did not know how to spell..
Robert Denison Cannon.
