left AL c. 1870 on their way to Ark. Stories say they were traveling
in a "wagon train". They ran low on supplies in Lee Co., MS. and
decided to stay over long enough to raise a crop and then go on.
Hilliard and James W. are listed as farm labor on 1870 Lee Co., MS
census. None of them could read or write, according to census.
