Received this on one of my other lists. The site is wonderful, even though
not complete.

Subject: [WALLACE-L] Fw: Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild passenger list
> Dear Wallace cousins, I am one of the 500+ transcribers working
on the
passenger list for IGTS. Since November, 1998, 423 ships passenger lists
have
been posted to this site. New ships are being uploaded weekly. The homepage
is
located at
http://istg.rootsweb.com The ships are indexed by time period,
port of
departure and arrival, and by surname; please use your scroll bar to view all
the
indexes. There are links from the surnames to each ship. As of Tuesday, there
were
some fifteen ships with Wallaces on the passenger list. The surnames are
transcribed EXACTLY as they appear on the manifest...so be sure and check all
those "creative" spellings we transcribers are dealing with from the original
list.
This is all being done by volunteers, so if you do find your folks on this
site, please
let us know...It helps at 3:00 AM when we are bleary-eyed and trying to
decipher illegible handwriting from long, long ago!
And do keep in mind that new ships are being added very often.
