How interesting about those Cannons. I have no siblings for Russell
Cannon and am interested to learn about any. I would point out that
as it seems that the Cannons you list are the ones in the book that I
have, then some of their birth dates might be estimated a few years
later. The lists were kept probably about 1858.
The page I think gives the best clue as to the date comes after the
list and states "July 18th 1859" and lists four names "J.A. Murphree;
W.H. Murphree; R.G. Murphree and Salina Murphree." These same
Murphrees appear in another list immediately adjacent to N.C.,
Martha, Burril and John.
The page with the lists comes immediately after a page which states "
Boxville November 22nd, 1857 There dwelt." The latest date in the
book put there by Melton seems to be March 27, 1860: that page had a
list of personal purchases/accounts. Melton died in 1862 (I think I
have previously said he died 1864; that was a mistake).
Though the book was not kept in perfect chronological order, it does
tend to be somewhat chronological.
There are two Woodalls listed in the book. Jonathan Woodall paid a
student account. E.L. Woodall is in one list of students.
My own Cannon line is as follows:
1. AEG--me
2. Mary Elizabeth Collums & Paul Russell Garber --my folks
3. John Q.P. Collums & Thelma A. Tierce (grand niece of George
Melton)--grandparents
4. William T. Collums & Sarah Margaret Knox--first great grandparents
5. John Quintus Knox & Mary Lucinda Cannon--second great grandparents
6. Alton Cannon & Margaret Price--third great grandparents (first
generation to die in MS)
7. James Cannon & Mary Powell--fourth great grandparents (died in AL)
8. Russell Cannon & Jean Campbell--fifth great grandparents.
9. Simcock Cannon & Jane Rudd--sixth great grandparents
