her ggg uncle George W. MELTON of Coffeeville (Yalobusha Co., MS), who taught
school and had notes in a book naming: Wm. CANNON and his children: Sary
Ann, N. C., Martha, Burril, John. I would like to know who William's parents
were. I cannot identify further the other names in Melton's book: Henry,
John F., Samuel, all surnamed Cannon.

The following deed in Yalobusha Co., MS, may or may not be for this
William CANNON. None of this William Cannon's probate file mentions this
land. The researcher believes this record is for this William, but at
least one other William CANNON was in that county at that approximate
time: William CANNON was granted Frl S28 T24 R7E on 19 Jan 1847. The
location of the land was close to that of the next deed, which was for
this William.
Yalobusha Co., MS, Deed Book (Letter not known), pp. 560-561: Paul MURRAY
and wife sell to William CANNON -- 27 Jan 1849 -- 320 acres, SE-1/4 S22
and NE-1/4 S27, both in T24 R7E.
William CANNON was bondsman for the marriage of George W. EARLE and Rhoda
C. WOODALL on 6 Mar 1859. Perhaps Rhoda was his wife's sister.

William CANNON died 14 Nov 1868; his minor children named - Nancy

N. C. Cannon is very likely Nancy Caroline, one of the children above.
