Hi, Thank you for the Cannon information.
From the Anson County, NC records we know that a Wm Kennon and a R
Kennon
came into Anson County, NC in the 1750s. I don't know what part of
Anson
they settled into. They can be found in McBee's Anson County Abstracts
(or
what ever McBee named the book). Wm Kennon was an attorney, and left
some
records in Anson County, NC.
Slaughter, a VA researcher says that Wm Kennon (of VA) raised a
military
unit in Mecklenburg Co., NC, paid for it from his own funds, and was
never
repaid by NC.
Wm Kennon was often Cannon, and I have yet to learn where he was in
Anson
(exactly), however he was said to have been of Mecklenburg County, NC,
and
to have signed early petitions in protest of British rule.
In your research have you come across the Kennon/Cannons of
Mecklenburg
Co., NC other than the one you mentioned? Ken
