Many Gems subscribers wrote to us about this article - a report called
"Genealogy bounty coming to Web." According to the report, "Much to the
delight of genealogists, the Mormons are preparing to make some of their
vast holdings of family records available on the World Wide Web for the
first time next month, if not sooner." The new website will be found at
http://www.familysearch.org and is set for release in April; a test period
in March may be restricted to a small group of selected testers who will
be given a password. There is lots of good information in the article
about the Church's focus on genealogy.

The BYU newspaper reports that the trial period will be held sometime in
March or April, with a formal launch date of "early summer."
