I just got my first issue of the TreeTracers newsletter from the
Southwest Oklahoma Genealogical Society and saw a query from Tammy
Hinton about a Gus and Virginia CANNON of Anadarko, Oklahoma. I'm hoping
Tammy subscribes to this list - Tammy's email address is no longer
active.
I think we may have a connection. I've been told that my great
grandmother Nora Elizabeth CANNON is related somehow to a Gus CANNON.
Here's what I know about Nora:
Nora Elizabeth CANNON, born 1881 in Oklahoma.
According to the 1920 Caddo County census, her father was born in Texas,
her mother was born in Mississippi.
She married Clayton ROBERSON in Caddo County Oklahoma on 16 Feb, 1903.
They had the following children:
Claud b. 1905 in Oklahoma
Virginia b. 1909 in Oklahoma
Pansy b. 1913 in Oregon
Oren b. 1915 in Washington
Doris Mona b. 1916 in Washington
Rachel b. 1917 in Oklahoma
Doris Mona ROBERSON DAVIS is my grandmother.
I've been told by another family member that Gus CANNON fought in WW-I
and was killed and buried somewhere in France. I haven't been able to
verify this information, though.
I'd love to know anything at all about this Gus and Virginia CANNON. Are
they related to my great grandmother Nora Elizabeth CANNON?
Thank you,
