Hello Cannon Clan...
I hope one of you might be able to answer a question regarding state borders...
My Great Great Grandfather served in the 2nd Kentucky (Orphan Brigade).
He enlisted at Camp Boone Tennessee.. * Confederates did not officially
organize troops in Tennessee. Here's my problem. This individuals ( N.T. CANNON)
1917 obituary states he's from Kentucky. That makes since as most of his comrads
were from Kentucky. However, I ran across a 1900 Census that had him from Tennessee.
His son was grown in 1900 and appeared as head of household in the next district.
He listed his dad as from Kentucky. How can this be? I am unable to find N.T. in
any Kentucky records (looking from here [Georgia] anyway).
Could border counties move back and forth between states even as late as the 1860's ?
Is it probable every assumed he was from Ky because he fought with Kentuckians,
but did not really make it known until the 1900 census.
Thanks,
Jerry Cannon
