Bart,
in my little book about the Walkers there is the will of Jeremiah Cannon-
he lists Elizabeth as wife and son Benjamin as executor 1767
Jeremiah Cannon and Phillip Walker were neighbors.
one of Fanny Cannon's daughters was named Elizabeth Elam Walker-
there was a boy and girl believed to be twins named Patsey Cannon
Walker and her brother
William Cannon Walker.
on the motion of Jeremiah Cannon, an ancient and infirm person, he is
by this court discharged from the payment of public and county levys
for the future 1765-66 --
how old was were you if you were ancient- maybe there was a son Jeremiah also-
Cumberland Co,VA 1757 deed book-Cannon,Jeremiah court for draughting
soldiers. he was adjudged to be a soldier-
discharged ,June 28,1757

Hi Ann,
I believe that it was you told me that Zachariah's parents were Jeremiah
Cannon and Elizabeth Elam Cannon, but I have never seen the document from
which you derived that data. I presume it is in the Weiland Collection.
Zella Armstrong also mentions this supposition in Notable Southern Families.
Newer research indicates that Jeremiah had two wives. Elizabeth Elam was
his second wife and only the first name of his first wife is known. Her
first name was Susannah.
The newer research also suggests that Jeremiah was probably Zachariah's
grandfather rather than his father.
One son of Jeremiah was named Benjamin as was Jeremiah's father.
A birth document for Zachariah does not exist as far as I know.
The theory I believe is that Zachariah is the son of Benjamin Cannon, son of
Jeremiah.
This branch of Cannon's moved to Stokes Co. North Carolina and their naming
changed to Kennon. That' where I lost the ball in my own original research.
This newer research to which I refer is the product of some meticulous and
diligent work by a Cannon relative. But I can't remember his name and he
does not indicate it on his papers !!
I will need to go back through all of my inbox for the last two years before
I can find it.
He will certainly have more information to offer. I will ask if I can
forward his work.
Bart
