In response to is there a "CANNON" family tartan?
I have looked in many books and online. I have relatives and
friends in Scotland and I can not find any evidence where the surname
CANNON is a clan, or a sept of a clan, thus no tartan.
However, our surname does appear in the Galway district of Scotland.
That means you can wear that disctrict tartan.
Also here's a link to Irish tartans, by district. Keep in mind that most
Scottish / Irish names are not associated with clans, tartans, like the
highlanders
out of Scotland, but are associated by the districts in which they lived.
For example, if you knew your CANNON ancestors came out of
Donegal Ireland, then you can wear the tartan of Donegal, or you can
wear the Irish national tartan.

In reality, you can wear any tartan you want, because there's no tartan
police that will arrest you.
Maybe someone will start a "CANNON" clan and petetion to have a
tartan created for our surname.
I hope this answers the question.
