Kathryn, a few years ago I did a timeline beginning with the original Royal
Land Grants in SC from 1750-1805. The given name Ephraim was very common in
that colony. There are lots of LWTs and land docs that show how the original
grants were handed down. I'm sure you could find several lines with
Ephraims in them. You will need more than just a name on a LWT to prove that it's
your line or not.
I am up against my brickwall with the given name John....as common as dirt!!
in the 18th century. Since I couldn't make any headway going backwards I
decided to start at the earliest docs and work forwards. I have gathered a lot
of info, but unable to make the connection with my John. I know he was in
SC for the births of 4 kids in the 1790s, as per their 1850 census records.
I can send you some detailed info of the instances that I know of with that
given name if you want to pursue it. Just let me know.
