Kathryn...I pulled up the 1850 Census for Williamson, Ill. and noted that he
indicated that he was born in South Carolina. That is where my ggrandfather
was born, Samuel Cannon, in Anderson, SC. He had a brother Ephraim, who was
born much later than that, he had an Uncle that was born about 1790, and his
Great grandfather was Ephraim Cannon...so he named his son...William Ephraim
Cannon in 1876!
These Cannon were called "Newberry Cannons", as they migrated to that area
when they came to the U.S. I don't have a specific family in thie group to
point you towards, but I believe that a James Cannon migrated to TN, and
possibly on to MO. I noted that his descendants that he was born in TN.
