These Cannons! "My" James Cannon was not the father of Samuel Cannon,
but was the son of another Samuel Cannon. This James was born in SC in
the 96th district in 1762 and married Rachel Stark. I can't help
believing that all these Samuels and Jameses were related in some way.
Moving on . . . . . .
Could anyone living in those days have anticipated the kind of
technological progress that we take for granted today? If I could
invite them to Thanksgiving dinner, I'd ask them what they had imagined
life would be like 200+ years into the future. Also, this James freed
his slaves at his death, which was about 60 years before the Civil War.
I'd like to know more about that decision and how he made it. . . .
and what Rachel thought about it. And then, borrowing an idea from my
granddaughter, I'd show them how to play solitaire without cards.

abilities.
