Hi, listers, when you read this you will think that I have gone completely
"over the edge" but please have patience on someone who has been hitting
their head against a brickwall.
My John CANNON circa 1760 SC > 1824 KY named one of his sons Israel. A
Robert CANNON who we assume is related and lived in the same places at the
same time also named a son, Israel. No, they are not the same Israel...one
died 1837, the other was in the 1850 census.
There is a CANNON/PENNINGTON connection in 1750's SC. This PENNINGTON line
is Abraham>ISAAC>JACOB. Isaac's dau Lydia marr. Samuel CANNON. Jacob
married Mary CANNON, d/o John CANNON (1750 grantee on Cannon's Cr.).
In the Bible, Old Testament, Jacob's name was changed to Israel, and he
became forefather to the 12 tribes of Israel. Now, we all know that our
CANNONs were very religious and had some level of Bible knowledge, hence all
the biblical given names. Does anyone think that a Jacob...not
necessarily the PENNINGTON one.....could be the source for these Israel
CANNONs?
Or am I really over the edge? I know this is really grabbing at
straws....but one gets desperate!!
thanks, and please stop laughing!!
Janice (Cannon)
