Gladys,
Do you think your James could have possibly came from SC? My gr gr
grandparents were James, b. ca 1797/98, and Juretta ? Cannon, of Laurens
Co., SC. They had several children, one named James, b. abt. 1833.
Capers Bowman Cannon, Caroline, Elizabeth, John Ransom, Pinckney, NATHAN,
Jane, Benjamin, William N. and Octavia were the others. Capers B., John
R., William N. were in the Civil War. William was KIA at South Mountain, MD
on September 14, 1862 at age 15, and Capers B. at Spottssylvania, Va on
August 05, 1864. I have never found anything on James and your James is
the right age. I haven't found anything on Caroline, Benjamin, Octavia, nor
Jane. I think Elizabeth & John Ransom never married and was living with my
grandfather and grandmother in 1910. My line is Nathan and I have lots of
information on his family. He married Laura (Lura) Bagwell, whose father,
James, also died in the Civil War in Va. They had 12 children. Luther,
who moved to GA., Lidia, Franklin, JOHN HENRY, Calvin, William, Gena,
Benjamin, Lillie, Mamie, Mattie and Jane.

Subject: Re: [CANNON] William Cannon of Illinois (attn: Richard)
Hi Richard,
I have been seeing the exchanges the last several days regarding
James
Cannon and a William Cannon and the states of Ill, Ky, and NC. I
also
have
been searching for my g-grandfather James Cannon in WV, birth date
1834.
Your
letter made me wonder if he could be from a branch of Cannons that
came
from
PA. to KY. WV lay inbetween those two states. My James married a
Catherine
Van Horn. Have you seen anything about anyone that would fit that
description?
My grandfather's name was John and my Dad's name was William
Cannon, born
1897 in WV. It seems those are names that were used very frequently by
the
Cannon's. I wonder if there is any connection. Have you seen
any thing
that
might connect my family with yours? I would love to find my
g-grandfather, who
were his folks and where did they come from. Gladys in WV
