Hello,
I don't know if any of you have Elbert J. Cannon on your trees. But he is my
husbands GG Uncle. He was killed in the battle of Mossy Creek. The Heartland
is short history story about Tennessee. They have chose to do one on Elbert
and his touching story. If anyone needs more information please E-mail me. Or
if he is on your Tree I would love to hear from you. Paula Cannon
Steve Dean forwarded your message to me.
Hello Mrs. Cannon
It is amazing how these things work. Saturday we had it scheduled and
had to postpone it because of the snow. So, this Saturday, Feb. 1 "The
Heartland Series" is going to do a shoot and a show on this very story of
Capt. Elbert Cannon at the battle of Mossy Creek.
We have asked and have the help of 30 Cavelry Civil War reenactors and
probably 30 infantry men, 2 cannons and we don't know what all!?
We very much would love to see and photograph the picture you have of
Elbert. We will be up there at Jefferson City all day Saturday.
I just talked to Amy Anderson, who is our producer/writer. She is
familiar with you and said you all hooked up some time back. Yes, please, we
want to get with you and shoot a picture of the picture and the letter if
that is possible? Could you call me or Amy when you get a moment?
If you'd like to come up and watch, it should be wild on Saturday. We'll
tell you all about it. Thanks again for your help on this. Hope you get a
chance to give us a call. Sincerely, Bill Landry
Subject: Capt Elbert Cannon Battle of Mossy Creek
Hello,
I had E-mailed you before and was to get back in touch with you this fall.
I had a Computer crash.
It was about the story of Elbert Cannon. Who was shot in the battle of
Mossy Creek Dec 29 1863, and died on Jan 1 1864. My husband has a picture of
him and a letter he had written from Cumberland Gap in I think it is 1862. He
has been talked about in the book History of the 1st TN. Regiment. Lilly of
Valley and Campaign to no where. Glenmore Mansion in Jefferson City just did
a story about him in their fall news letter. IT is a touching story that
during the war how neighbors stopped a war for a home boy to let his mother
be by his side while he died. If you are still interested please let me know.
Thank you, Paula Cannon
