Floyd C. Cannon was from the New Lexington area of Tuscaloosa and his
wife, the former, Cora Mattie South, was reared in the Davis Creek area
of Fayette County. The couple were married in the county of the bride's
residence and were on the 1930 census for Fayette County. Each of their
two children were on this census.
After 1930 the family moved to Tuscaloosa County where the children were
reared and educated, married. On his application for a marriage license,
Charles Morgan Cannon listed his birth county as Tuscaloosa but as a
fifteen year old applying for a social security card he gave his place
of birth as Fayette County. This is preplexing to me. Both his obit and
death certificate carry Tuscaloosa as the county of birth. It couldn't
have occurred in both counties but which one is the correct one? Is
there any way to prove this short of obtaining a birth certificate which
is not available to me.
Thanks for your help and co-operation.
