I'm looking for any CANNON belonging to Bridget, her information as under:-
Bridget CANNON aged 16, Nursemaid, parents shown as John Cannon and Biddy, Native Place -
Carrick-on-Shannon, Leitrim, Ireland, arrived on Lady Peel as an irish famine orphan 3rd
July, 1849. Her name is on the Irish Famine Orphans Memorial, Hyde Park Barracks, Sydney.
From the shipping list, her father was deceased, but mother lived in Carrick, she was
Catholic, she could read and write, she had no relations in the colony, she had good
health and had no complaints about her journey. Between July 1849 and January, 1850, she
made her way or was brought to Queensland, where she married John Smith, and had a family.
Does anyone have CANNON from Carrick-on-Shannon, Leitrim. The Mitchell family property
in Roma was later called Leitrim, (where my Nanna was born), perhaps in tribute to their
ancestors.
Thanks.
Jenelle
