I would like to invite my great grandfather, Alfred Frederick Cannon, to
Christmas dinner.
He was born in 1854 near Tuolumne, California to Jack and (not known) Cannon.
He was married on 4 Nov 1879 to Martha (Mattie) Isabella HART
(Cannon/VIGNOLO/LOVEJOY) in Hornitos, Mariposa, CA.They lived in Gertrude,
Mariposa/Fresno/Madera, CA. Alfred worked, probably as a blacksmith, at the Enterprise
Mine in
Gertrude. They had two children, Ada Cannon (PARKER) and William Frederick
Cannon. Alfred may have also worked in or near Wawona, Mariposa, CA as a
blacksmith.
My questions to him would start with the following:
1-What were the names and vital statistics of your parents?
2-Did your father (or grandfather) really sail to Monterey, CA with Spanish
soldiers? The story about the voyage?
3-Did you have any brothers or sisters? Their vital statistics?
4-What was it like to live in Gold Rush territory during Gold Rush times?
