Ray,
I do not live far from where your CANNON evidently lived. I am in Stanislaus
Co., CA. Are you in the area?
My Thomas CANNON was b about 1780 and m in Washington Co., VA. He moved to
Overton C0., TN where he, his son William and dau. Martha CANNON Finley all
died. The next generations - Sally M. "FINLEY m G. P. HEDRICK of my line and
they moved to Carroll Co., AR and son to then Boone Co., AR. I migrated from
there to CA in 1954.
I Would like to find information on Thomas's birth and his ancestors. He
was a War of 1812 Veteran.
Any help appreciated - I will share. Thanks
Wilma

Subject: [CANNON] CHRISTMAS DINNER
I would like to invite my great grandfather, Alfred Frederick Cannon,
to
Christmas dinner.
He was born in 1854 near Tuolumne, California to Jack and (not known)
Cannon.
He was married on 4 Nov 1879 to Martha (Mattie) Isabella HART
(Cannon/VIGNOLO/LOVEJOY) in Hornitos, Mariposa, CA.They lived in Gertrude,
Mariposa/Fresno/Madera, CA. Alfred worked, probably as a blacksmith, at
the
Enterprise Mine in
Gertrude. They had two children, Ada Cannon (PARKER) and William
Frederick
Cannon. Alfred may have also worked in or near Wawona, Mariposa, CA as a
blacksmith.
My questions to him would start with the following:
1-What were the names and vital statistics of your parents?
2-Did your father (or grandfather) really sail to Monterey, CA with
Spanish
soldiers? The story about the voyage?
3-Did you have any brothers or sisters? Their vital statistics?
4-What was it like to live in Gold Rush territory during Gold Rush times?
