Dorothy,
Thanks for the message. Our CANNONS are probably related, but they are
not the same men. My Thomas was b about 1780, probably in VA, at least he
married there in Washington Co., VA about 1806 to Martha "Patsey LEE and
they moved to Overton Co., TN where he died on 24 Oct. 1863. We believe her
to have been b about 1790, but she was age 52 in 1850 Overton Co., TN Census
and b VA, her parents John and Mary LEE were also b in VA. John died near
Abington, VA in Dec. 1797 The census are not always correct. We have other
records for them. But not his parents.
We do not know if Thomas CANNON is connected to the ones in N.C or not. We
do not know his parent either. I would desire any help possible. He is
definately a brick wall for me and many others!
Thanks, Wilma

Hi, Wilma,
Just saw your message on Thomas CANNON. I also have a Thomas M. CANNON,
but
have been unable to find his parent's. My info on him is that he
was
born
in NC, b. on March 1, 1830,(could have started as FINCANNON, and
later
shortened to CANNON); but not sure of that. I also think he migrated
to
Alabama, where he enlisted in the Civil War. After the war, he moved
on
to
GA, where he married Mary Clennie Jackson, in 1866. They had at
least
10
children (Sarah Frances, James Harvey, Joanna, Dora, Luella, Clennie,
Artie,
Benjamin, Julius, and Samuel). Then they moved on to TX around
1890.
Thomas M. is buried in the Annetta Cemetery, in Parker Co., TX. (near
Weatherford). He died in Dec. 1904. His wife, Mary Clennie died in
1914.
If anyone out there can give me a clue on my Thomas M. CANNON, it would
be a
blessing. I would love to travel to TX, myself, and try to find him,
but am
elderly and disabled, so cannot travel. Please help if you can, and
many
thanks. Dorothy Newman dnewman7(a)dslextreme.com
