Thanks Pat. I suspected that the Ohio River played a part in their
journey to Baton Rouge especially after Charles died in 1824 most of the family
migrated to Cincinnati, Ohio probably via the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers.

Lynn My 3 great grandfather John Cannon was also in Pennsylvania early
1800's, traveled down thru Ohio where a daughter was born and then on to
Mobile Ala and then Baton Rouge, La. I think the Ohio river was used by
our
ancestors in Md and Pa to go south, traveling on flat boats. Have not
been
able to determine if he had siblings in PA but there seems to have been
several Cannons there. Hope someday to identify other Cannon ties. Pat

Janice,
My fourth great grandfather, Charles Cannon and his wife Eleanor Crosson
Cannon possibly had their first child somewhere in Pennsylvania in 1794.
>From Pennsylvania they made their way eventually to Baton Rouge,
Louisiana
where their second child, my third great grandfather James, was
born in
1798.
How they traveled to Louisiana is unknown.

My John Cannon shows up in the 1790s in Western SC, before migrating to
KY. Does anyone have any ancestral lines that follow the migration
route
from DE/PA to SC some time before 1790?
thanks,

My Cannons are from Delaware and I have traced my Cannon's back to
early
1800's in Delaware. My parents, in fact, still live in New
Castle, DE. I
would be interested in any information relative to Delaware Cannon's. My
great-grandfather was John Dixon Cannon. My great-great-grandfather was
John
Cannon who was born in 1815 who was born in either Delaware or
Pennsylvania.
My Cannons were predominantly in New Castle County. I know that there
is
a
large contingent of Cannons in Sussex Co., Delaware.
