Believe it or not, that is exactly what I did. I did not specify History, Biography or
anything else. I was desperate and this was my "shot in the dark". Remember
that there may be many hits, especially with a name like John Cannon. Many of my hits
were of a Gov. Newton Cannon of TN, but you get the habit of ignoring anything from TN
(Gov Newt was born 20 -40 years after the one I was searching). You might want to limit
the search to History.
Bear in mind that some of these books are full view; others are not. It depends on the
book, the author, copyright laws, etc. I lucked out. One other good feature I find is
that stores selling the book are listed so that if you really want the book and it is
still in print, you can buy a copy.
