Hi, Joyce!!
The Maiser list posts are in the searchable archives. I started the CANNON
list in June of '96, and we moved to RootsWeb in May of '97 (when the
spammer destroyed Maiser) and Larry let those of us who wanted to do so
bring our archives here. Please go on and post the material again,
though, as you have time - it will be wonderful to have it in posts
now!!! The url for the archives is
Cousins (or not):
Since the mid 90s I have posted a lot of info on the Cannon list and it was
archived. We were on another server until we got spammed and lost all of
our archived info. Rootsweb was there with an invitation to pick up the
lists and I don't recall the exact date, but it has been several years.
Hopefully, a lot of the information is on the Rootsweb archives.
I will post what I have on MD, NC, SC, etc. but with my hetic schedule for
the next 8 or 9 months (after that I won't be working as least for a while
and then only a few hours weekly), it may take a while to get it posted. If
anyone sees my posts in the Archives at RootsWeb, please let the list know
where to find it.
As for the Al to Tx to Arkansas Cannons, I have considerable information
from VA to SC to other states including Arkansas where they settled, but
some of it isn't documented. The research wasn't done by me, but was sent to
me in hopes we could find a connection or more documentation. I cannot
connect to these family of Cannons, but someone on the list may. They
settled in Spartanburg, SC. -John Cannon had several sons which included
the names of James, Jesse, Lewis, Henry, and others.
>From Spartanburg most of this family traveled on to GA, AL, MS, LA, TX, AK.
The person who sent to me lives (or lived) in Washington. I haven't heard
from them in about a year.
Please fill free to ask me questions on anything I post.
Be back soon!
Joyce
