Dear Linda,
.....I always feel if I can
help some one I will. It is always interesting to read the incidents in the
lives of those that came before us. And in addition, while I am helping some
one else, I may run on to something that I am looking for.....
Hi Gladys~
This is the way I feel, too. I will see where someone is struggling with
trying to make connections in their family line and I think that just maybe
with some of the resources I have, even though I may be having the same
kind of problems, perhaps I might just come across the information that are
looking for. It is such a relief to have that brick wall fall down and make
some headway and I would like to be able to help others that way if I can.
I have been able to run the history of my great grandmother,
Catherine Van Horn back to Holland and beyond into ancient times. It is
James Cannon,
my g-grandfather that has been so elusive....
I will keep my eyes open for your James CANNON. I still haven't found my
Jane CANNON even though I am looking for all variations of her name. To
make things more confusing, someone submitted information to
www.familysearch.org as Abraham FINE, born 1822, Washington County,
Tennessee married to Ane BUCHANON with the same birthdate and everything as
my Jane CANNON. Since Jane CANNON and Abraham FINE had a child named Allen
Buchanon FINE, this raises a big question in my head. Since the BUCHANON's
and CANNON's married quite a bit among themselves, this may take a great
deal of unraveling. Sooooo...do you think it's possible that your James
CANNON has parents or grandparents who started off with the name BUCHANON
or some variation of the spelling and later changed it to CANNON for some
reason?
When you see the word "Ahnentefel" at the bottom of
a family tree,
click on it. It will contain that persons ancestry.
I clicked onto those and you are right! They are very helpful. I never
could find the information on Jane CANNON you were sharing with me about
her being a midwfie and herbalist and how someone stole the things she and
her family had hidden away from soldiers during the Civil War. I looked
through all the Ahnentefels I could find on Abraham FINE and Jane CANNON,
but didn't see this. Could you point me in the direction of where the
information is that you saw? Thank you!
Linda
