Unfortunately the information on John Cannon coming on the Minerva in 1730 is erroneous.
Please see below:
As you can see, this John Cannon sailed for America 11 years after our John Cannon died in
1763. I feel very sad that the Minerva did not sail back in 1730 as we had previously
thought. The christening dates for the Cannon line back to Rich Cannon are good. The only
problem now is finding when or if John Cannon came to America, or whether his parents did,
and is our John Cannon the person christened in 1712 in Dover, Kent, England?
In the source, The Complete Book of Emigrants, 1607-1776, I found the following (I have
put the name of John Cannon in caps):
The Complete Book of Emigrants, 1607-1776.
24-30 January 1774 :
The following indentured servants bound from London to Philadelphia by the Minerva, Mr.
Arthur Hill:
JOHN CANNON OF LONDON, TALLOW CHANDLER, AGED 18;
The rest of the History appears to be correct.
