I have back to my GGGrandfather, Jeremiah Walker Cannon b. abt 1825 in Charleston, SC. He
was probably the Civil War torpedo boat pilot of the "David". He was married to
E. E. "Hattie" Thrower who was the daughter of James Thrower from Lancaster Co.,
SC. I found them in the 1860 census in Charleston in the home of James Thrower with
children G.W. (male age 10), J.W. (male age 6), S.W. (male age 4) and M.A.W. (female age
2). The 6 year old boy was my GGrandfather, Jeremiah Walker Cannon, Jr., b. 9/29/1854 in
Charleston, died 3/25/1921 in Charleston. He married Willie Ann Carroll abt. 1883. They
lived in Savannah, Georgia in 1884 where their oldest child David Carroll Cannon was born,
then moved to Florida where daughters Willie Ruth and Lucile were born. They lived at 32
Warren Street in Charleston at the time of their deaths in 1920 and 1921. David Carroll
Cannon married Beulah Droze and lived in Charleston all his life. His son David Jr. was at
one time a city auditor in Ch!
arleston. Willie Ruth married Benjamin Hayward Lesesne and she died shortly after giving
birth to her fourth child. Lucile (my grandmother) married John Rufus Hembree Jr. and
moved to Detroit where they had four children, my mother Lucille Hembree Brau was the
oldest.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone with information on my Cannons.
