While digging at the state archives today, I ran across some Cannons in
early Wilkes Co. records.
I only know what I am writing here, since my Cannons are in Louisiana. Hope
these folks belong to someone.

the Eastern District of Orleans Territory
by Walter Lowrie
Publisher: Easley SC: Southern Historical Press, Inc. (1986)
p. 304
No. 156--Jason JAFFRION claims a tract of land, situate on the river of
Mississippi, in the county of Point Coupee, containing six arpents front,
and forty in depth, and bounded on one side by the land of P. CANON, and on
the other by land surveyed for MADAME DESCUIR.
It appears that the claimant did actually inhabit and cultivate the land
now claimed on the 20th December 1803, and that the same was continually
inhabited and cultivated by him, or by those under whom he claims, for more
than ten consecutive years next preceeding. Confirmed.
