Hi Debbie,
This email came through the CANNON list just as I was preparing to leave
town. I knew that I wouldn't have time to respond adequately, so decided to
wait until I returned.
You mentioned that you were a descendant of Andrew Jerome Cannon b. 18 May
1809 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Andrew Jerome was the brother of my
ggggrandfather James Joseph Cannon b. May 1798 in Louisiana, not sure yet if
it was in Baton Rouge.
Their parents were Charles Cannon and Eleanora Crosson originally from
Ireland, but again I don't know exactly where. Their first child, Margaret,
was born somewhere in Pennsylvania abt. 1794. James Joseph was the next
child, born in Louisiana and the next five children were born in East Baton
Rouge.
I do not have a birthplace for your Andrew Bernard Cannon, but I have him
married to Josephine Lydie Arcenaux on 20 Aug. 1868 in St. Joseph's Catholic
Church in E. Baton Rouge and his death date 25 May 1901 also in E. Baton
Rouge.
You also mentioned that someone had posted on Rootsweb that Andrew Bernard
was born in Scott Co., Missouri. This could be true. My James Joseph Cannon
had his first child in E. Baton Rouge, the next child, my gggrandmother, in
Ohio, possibly Cincinnati. The next two children were born in Louisiana and
the last three in Ohio. There was something about the Mississippi and Ohio
Rivers that kept some of the family members traveling up and down. I think I
found their mother, Eleanora, in Cincinnati in her later life.
Most of my information has come from Alice Kennedy in Cincinnati, Ohio. She
is a descendant of Bernard J. Cannon, the brother of James Joseph and Andrew
Jerome.
I have much more information from Alice including the other siblings of
Andrew and James, their wives and children. I also have the names of Charles
and Eleanora's parents. I will send you what I have if you would like to
have it. I can send the family group sheets in a GEDCOM, in an attachment
over the Internet or by snail mail. I have only sent one GEDCOM and that was
a few years ago, so I will need to reeducate myself on this. I have never
scanned family group sheets and sent as an attachment, but I could try. Both
of these methods will take me a little time. The snail mail approach might
be the fastest especially since you live in Orlando and I live in Indialantic
near Melbourne on the East coast.
We corresponded earlier this year. You sent me some information on the
Archives in Baton Rouge. Let me know how you want me to send the information
to you.
Best wishes,
Lynn Symeon
