DAVID CANNON SENR.
South Carolina
In the name of God Amen I David Cannon Senr. of the District of Newberry in the State
afsd. being of sound and disposing mind and memory but weak in boddy, & calling to
mind The uncertainty of life & being desirous to despose of all such worldly Estate as
it has pleased God to bless me with do make and ordain This my last will and Testament in
manner following (That is to say) First it is my will and desire that all my lawful Debts
shall be paid. 2dly. I Give and bequeath to my wife Nancy Cannon my home plantation or
Tract of land where on I now live, during her natural life time, and at the death of my
wife Nancy, my will and desire is that the said land shall be equally divided between my
three Youngest sons Viz. George I. Cannon, David M. Cannon & Thomas V Cannon as will
more fully appear by deeds of giftS for the sd. lands by me deeded to the sd. George,
David & Thomas the 13th day of Septr. 1821- also my will and Desire is that my sd.
wife shall have four negors (viz) B!
ob Hamlet, Rachel & Till & the futer increase of the sd. Rachel & Till. Also
as much of the stock of horses, cows and hoggs, and house hold & kitchen furniture as
she the sd. Nancy may think proper to keep during her natural life, also one waggon and as
many plantation tools as she may need, and as much of the crop of corn or Fodder that may
be remaining, or growing on sd. plantation at the time of my Deceas as she may need for
her & families support for the present year.- I give to my Daughter Mary Wicker the
wife of John Wicker, one Negro woman named Bettey & her increas also one horse saddle
& Bridle Cow and Calf, bed & furniture all in her possession- I Give to my
Daughter Anna Hutchinson wire of Jery Hutchinson One Thousand Dollars That I the sd. David
had to pay on acct. of a decree of court, on account of a negro woman that sd. anna had in
her possession which I was compeled by sd. decree to take back and pay the above stated
sum of One Thousand Dollars also one horse!
saddle & bridle, cow & calf and bed & furniture all in her possession---
I give my Daughter Sarah Setzler the wife of George Setzler one Negro named Alec and her
issue, one horse saddle & bridle, cow & calf and bed & furniture all in her
possession- I give to my Daughter Mahala Roiser the wife of Martin Roiser and one negro
garle name Seyntha & her futer increas also one horse saddle & bridle, cow and
calf and bed and furniture, all in her possession- I give to the heirs on my son William
Cannon Decd. all that plantation or Tract of land whereon sd. William Decd. also one bed
and furniture horse saddle & bridle & Cow and calf all in his possession I give to
my son George I. Cannon one third part of the lands that I now live on, a further
description there of will more fully appear by a deed of , gift mad by me to the sd.
George, the 13 day of Septr. 1821 also one negro boy name Jefsa, horse Saddle, bridle, cow
& calf & bed and furniture- I give to my don David M. Cannon, one third part of
the Tract of land that I now live on, a further descriptio!
n there of will more fully appear by a deed of gift from me to the sd. David Dated the
13th day of Septr. 1821 also one negro boy named Jorden, horse saddle & bridle cow
& calf and bed & furniture.---- I Give to my son Thomas V. Cannon one third part
of the lands that I now live on a further description ther of will more fully appear by a
deed of gift frim me to the sd. Thomas dated the 13th day of Septr. 1821 also one horse
saddle & bridle cow & calf and bed and furniture- It is also my will and desire
that all my Estate not here to fore named or devised as well as the personal Estate named
to my wife (after her death) shall be sold and Equally divided amongst my Eight Children
here to fore named, and the heirs of sd. William to receive one ninth part of the sd.
property to be equally divided amongst them, and lastly I do appoint my sons Samuel D.
Cannon & George I. Cannon Esctrs of this my last will & Testament- In witness
where of I have here unto set my hand & seal the 2!
