Roberta,
I may be wrong since I'm just trying to remember this from the info in
my head (which goes array sometimes), but I believe the James Cannon which
Joey is speaking of is the one who was born in the 1790s and not the earlier
ones born in 1750s, etc. Is this correct?
Thanks,
Joyce

Subject: [CANNON] James Cannon of Spartanburg
Regina, Janice, Joey, et al;
Joey Gainey responded to another post I made earlier (specifically about
Ellis Cannon's will) about James Cannon and Ellis Cannon being related.
He said that the only clue James Cannon is related to Ellis Cannon was
that James signed as witness to Ellis Cannon's pension application. He
said he and his mother (Faye Berry, I think) had been searching for James
Cannon's parentage for over 25 years and the preceding bit was the only
indication of a connection that they had found.
James Cannon of Spartanburg is my gggrandfather, Berry Cannon (i.e.. James
Berry Cannon) is my ggrandfather, Ayme Etta Cannon is my paternal
grandmother. James, his parentage, and spouse are points that are lost to
me and my kin. The only info I have so far on James is from the 1850
Spartanburg District census.
Thanks for all your responses!
Roberta
