My husband is getting hold of an organization of folks who collect horns, so
hopefully we'll be able to learn a bit more. I was just crossing my fingers
that Derek had an ancestor on the Cannon list (of course, I still believe in
Santa and the Easter Bunny, too!!!) lol We have a ton of things I'd like
to know more about, and the Antiques Road show would be great....except I
just don't wait in long lines for anything, I'm afraid. When you have
antiques you always wonder about things, where they use to 'live', who first
had them, etc. I've been able to find the 'families' for several things
we have, and always send lots of photos to the 'other' family, which is fun.
But, it's the rare thing that has a full name on it to work with, or a
location of any kind....I did find the family of an English sampler made in
1811, and they told me the sad story of the girl who made it.....I found a
museum dedicated to the inventor of an improvement in the manufacture of
steel....they knew lots about him, but had no likeness of him. So, I sent
them a large blow-up of a silhouette I have)....they have put it in the
museum. Those, and others, were fairly easy to research...not much
different than any other genealogical research...but I haven't been able to
come across any other Derek Cannonl so I thought I'd 'put' it out there,
just in case.
History Detectives might be a better idea....wouldn't that be fun?
(but I'd REALLY have to clean the living room, wouldn't I!)
