The only " Derek" in the cannon connections is my father but it is spelled
"
dyark " and not Derek.

Sandra,
I have never heard the name "Derek" in connection with the Cannon clan.
The New York Cannons are quite distinct from the Southern Cannons.
You may want to investigate the line Andreis Canon of 1652 Staten Island.
Your antiquity is a rare and precious thing.
