This is in reply with what I have on a Robert CANNON in SC....here is what I wrote in my
time-line chart:
1768
Mary Patrick to Robert CANNON assign. and release of dower
Luke Patrick & Mary to Robert CANNON conveyance
4/4/1768 plat 100 acres Colleton county 11/27/1768 grant-same (meaning the same 100
acres)
1/3/1771 memorial 100 acres Colleton county
I got this info at the research library in published books of land info and grants prior
to Rev War. The grants were, of course, coming from the King of England, so after the war
he no longer had any authority, and the well went dry on this kind of information as
America struggled to set up it's own government. As far as I know I do not have a
Robert in my line so I did not pursue this individual. This is all the info I have.
hope it helps someone,
Janice (Cannon)

Hi
I have a Robert Cannon who lived in Pendleton and Greenville Districts of
South Carolina during the same time period. He had 9 children all born in
South Carolina. His wife was a Cornelius, we think, no first name. There
are records of him during that time period, but no John. Do you have any
infor on our Robert?
Thanks,
Glen Anne Henderson

Hi listers, I have a John CANNON who had kids in SC during the late
1790s,
then removed to western KY. He married Rachel WOOTEN and then
disappeared. I have always "assumed" that he came over prior to the Rev
War, and fought in that war, but died before he could collect his
pension...he is not listed in the pension records.
I am now wondering if he came to this country just after the Rev War and
immediately started moving west...he is in Pendleton Co., SC census.
Has anyone ever discovered their lines coming over right after the war??
Anyone found ship's passenger lists for that time period??
"Leave no stone unturned".....or in this case, follow every
possibility....
thanks,
Janice (CANNON)
