Those of us in the USA will soon be celebrating Thanksgiving. Listmembers,
if you could have one of your ancestors with this surname join you for
Thanksgiving dinner, which ancestor would you invite? What questions would
you ask him/her?
Please send a post to this list telling us about your ancestor - and please

I would invite my grandfather, George Emmet Cannon, to join me for
Thanksgiving dinner. "Big Daddy", as we called him, was born April 3, 1870
near Ozan in Hempstead Co, AR. He died November 17, 1952 on his farm, near
Hope, Hempstead Co, AR. Big Daddy graduated from Ouachita Baptist College
at Arkadelphia, AR in 1895 with a Bachelor of Science degree and from the
University of Kentucky School of Medicine in 1898. From 1898 until his
death in 1952 he served the public as what we now call "an old country
doctor."
I always hear my grandfather was one of seven brothers and seven sisters. I
only knew one of his brothers, William J. Cannon (1866-1958). And I only
knew him because he lived in my home town. I would ask my Big Daddy to tell
me all about his growing up years and all about his parents and siblings.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
