Tom,I think we corresponded years ago. At that time and still am investigating Newton
Cannon although not as vigorously. I think Minos and Tubman and Henry and Waitman are
related somehow, but to prove it is difficult.Do you know who the father of any of them
is? I know Henry's father was James of Northwest Fork who bought land in 1688.Tom I
will get back to you. Right now I am on extended vacation with family and return home,
and my files, the first week in March.Have you tried Google Books? It requires patience,
but the search can be rewarding. I also found Newton, son of Henry and Francis Cannon, in
PA Archives which I never could have done otherwise.Talk to you later.Kathy

Kathy,
Very interesting. I had attempted at one point to find Cannons involved in
the Rev War and Civil War when at the Atlantic branch of the National
Archives. Records were not that great with the involvement. For the Civil
War, since those in southern Delaware were tied economically to the South, I
would have to look into Confederate records as well besides the Union.
There are a few documents that reflect the tenure of WIlliam Cannon during
his short stint as Governor of Delaware during the latter part of the Civil
War. He originates from the Bridgeville area and had sons in the Civil
War. But going down the path of finding ancestors in both of these
struggles would be an interesting one if there was more documentation. My
Cannons are from western Sussex County in the Northwest Fork Hundred. Our
family branch moved to Philadelphia circa 1893-94 from near Seaford.
Barthlomew M. Cannon and his son Isaac moved the family and business to
Philly- they were my great and great great grandfathers. Bartholomew also
married a Margaret A. Cannon who was from a separate Cannon line down in
that area of DE.
