Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Hello,
Is anyone researching this family in County Mayo, Ireland?
My gggrandparents were Thomas CANNON and Anna KILGALLON CANNON. Their
daughter, Bridget, emigrated to the U.S. and settled in northern Michigan
around 1871 where she married Patrick FLANNERY
Thanks for any help.

Dear Don,
I'm not the list master and likely he is on vacation. If you just follow the
instructions, and write to Cannon-D-request (I copied the instructions below
for you)...the computer system will automatically remove you. It's that
easy. Sorry you are having a bad time, but the listowner is probably
unaware. And only you and unsubscribe you from your own email address.

I received no message from you asking for assistance.
A url for the Cannon list website is on the bottom of each post, and
unsubbing there is very simple.
Had you saved your welcome message, as you were asked to do, you could have
easily unsubbed.
Posts from a mailing list to which you subscribed are not classified as
unsolicited e-mails.
I understand your frustration, but please do not make threats.
I have removed your e-address from the CANNON list.

Hey all,
Received this on another list, but had not seen it here and thought you might
be interested. A new rootsweb census lookup list for each state.
Deb
Hello Everyone ! I have had to reword and rework the guidelines for the
CENSUS-LOOKUP mailing lists and also include subscription instructions. I am
sending these below. The lists have been growing like crazy since I created
them three days ago and I expect the growth to continue as the word spreads.
Please feel free to forward this to anyone you feel may be interested in
joining. Of course the more people we have the more help we will be for each
other. Please keep in mind that we are only a few days old and if your lookup
request is not answered, try again in a week or two. Some of the state lists
have already reached over 150 subscribers <G> Others have not been
"advertised" as much and have fewer members. Hang in there and don't
get discouraged if your not answered right away, these lists will be a great
asset to our research after we reach the people and let them know that these
lists are available. I am encouraging everyone to send this email to their
surname and county mailing lists as well as to our cousins. Finally, If you
have the material to help a fellow researcher, please use it. Thanks, Kelly
Kellygirl3398(a)mpinet.net
(Subscription information at the end of this e-mail)
Guidelines for posting to the lists:
Established 11 October 2000
EMAIL SUBJECT LINES:
COUNTY,YEAR,SURNAME
NO FLAMING or you will be unsubbed without notice. By this I mean not only
being rude or mean to each other but there will be NO and I do mean NO
debating here about the Census Projects. This list is for everyone who wants
to research.
NO General requests such as "all Smiths in all counties" Be specific, Name
the County, Family you are looking for and also the year. Try to supply as
much info as possible.
LIMIT your requests to ONE PER CENSUS YEAR and SURNAME
My Mama taught me that Thank you and Please are always nice too :)
A few people have emailed me asking how to sign up for the new lists and what
to do.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
1. All lists are
XX-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L-request(a)rootsweb.com
XX-CENSUS-LOOKUP-D-request(a)rootsweb.com
The XX is to be removed and the two letter abbreviation for the state
you are looking in added in its place.
Examples:
MI-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L-request(a)rootsweb.com
CA-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L-request(a)rootsweb.com
IL-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L-request(a)rootsweb.com
2. So, send an email to the one of your choice (make sure to have the state).
Put NOTHING in the subject line. In the body of the email write only:
subscribe
Then send it on :)
3. POSTING to the new census lists:
A. Send it to XX-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L(a)rootsweb.com (supply the two letter state
code for the XX again)
B: Subject line MUST have the following:
County/Year/Surname
Example: Saginaw/1850/Smith
C: In the body of the email:
List whom you are looking for. Supply as much information as you can.
Birthplace, ages, occupation, etc.
D: Mail it on!
That's it folks :)
I hope that helped. I have put the list of states and two letter codes
below for you.

I am searching for the first wife of a William CANNON who came from Virginia
to Pendleton District, South Carolina. He died before the 1790 Census,
leaving a wife, Anne, who was too young to be the mother of his daughter,
Eleanor CANNON.
Eleanor CANNON was born about 1740- 1750 in Virginia. It is known that her
father, William, was in the same family with a Russell CANNON. But, who was
her mother?
Eleanor was first married to a HUDGENS, possibly William HUDGENS, a relative
of an Ambrose HUDGENS. Eleanor's husband was deceased by 1768 when she
married Major Samuel TAYLOR, neighbor, and friend of Andrew PICKENS. Sam
TAYLOR signed almost all of the treaties with the Indians made by Andrew
PICKENS, and was in the Rev. WAR as a field grade officer. She and Sam
TAYLOR were my 4 greats grandparents.

6. Col. Joseph TAYLOR, 3ggm.
7. Eleanor CANNON and Sam TAYLOR, 4ggm&f
8.James TAYLOR and Hannah WILLIAMS, William CANNON and ?????, 5ggm.
Any info will be appreciated.

Does anyone have information on a Jesse Cannon born circa 1800 who
resided in the coastal county of Horry in SC? He was married to Tabitha
(mnu). There were Cannons with very similar naming patterns in the
upstate area, but I can't make a definite link. (The Spartanburg area) I
would be most grateful for any help.
Thanks, Wanda

Hi Don:
Couldn't help notice the name Nellie DAVIS connected to the CANNON family.
In Knox County, Illinois, there were CANNON families (that's where my Mary
"Polly" CANNON who married John CHAMPION lived and died after migrating from
Kentucky to Indiana and then to Illinois.
Anyway, Mary's brother John CANNON, had a daughter named Harriet Palmyra
CANNON who married a Peter DAVIS. And there were LOTS of Nellie's in that
family. I have written to two other descendants of this family and will get
back to you.
Thanks for all your information you post for us....it is APPRECIATED!!!
