I am looking for information concerning Patrick Cannon, born in Ireland
about 1838. He was married to Bridget Coughlin, born about 1837. He
was in the US prior to 1861. His children were Sarah (1861), John
(1862), Thomas (1864, my great-grandfather), Kate Schumann (1865), Ellen
Bailey (1871), Bridget Ross (1873) and Patrick (1875). They lived in
Jersey City, NJ. I believe that they originated either in Roscommon or
Kilkenny, although I am not positive about that. Any connections to
anyone out there?
Thanks.

Looking for parents of John Cannon of Virginia. He had one known son, Ellis
Cannon who was married to Elizabeth Coleman. Ellis Cannon was said to have
been a minister and later lived in South Carolina. His son Henry Cannon
migrated to Rabun Co., Georgia and left many descendants. Would like to
correspond with anyone working on this family or Cannon's in Virginia
Hello cousins,
I'm posting this message again in hopes that someone will take the time to
read it and respond. Isabell is my only connection to to the CANNON line,
but once connected I'll be able to do some good work for the clan. I have
the NEHGS Register at my disposal, will have PERSI in another week, and 12
CDs from WFT (Broderbund). As you can see, I am quite anxious to get on
with the search. If you took the time to read, thanks. Gloria Daum

I just joined this list a few days ago and am happy to find fellow
researchers of my Cannons so quickly.
To Joye & Rod:
I am a descendant of Samuel Cannon and Lydia Pennington. I have John Cannon
(father of Samuel and Mary) as the youngest of the following siblings:
Richard, Susanna, Stanley, Ann, Sarah, and Catherine. Perhaps the two
brothers who moved to SC with John were Richard and Stanley?
Good to be aboard,
Rhetta
I am descended from James Cannon. He is believed to be a son of Samuel
Cannon. There were several James Cannon's in that area about the same time,
probably cousins. Some of them moved to Georgia and my James Cannon went to
Tennessee and then on to Missouri. It would be great to hear from anyone
descended from Samuel. Maybe we can pin down more details.

I'm looking for information on Catherine CANNON b. May 1777 in County
Derry, Ireland and d. 08 Oct 1851. She married James KENNEDY 07 Sep 1805 in

Thanks,

CANNON researchers,
Could someone please tell me the counties that comprised East Tennessee?
my GG Gramdmother was born, 1823 in E. Tenn., but I don't know the
specific county, or if there is even a record of her birth.
I don't know if Jane [CANNON] {HOLLIS} JEFFERSON married her first
huband in TN or AR. His name was XXXXX HOLLIS. She was a widow when
she married my GG Grandfather, Thomas JEFFERSON in AR. I don't know if
she was traveling from the Carolina's or VA on her way through TN to AR
with her family or not. In fact I don't even know where to begin this
search. Any help would be appreciated.
Does anyone have an Elizabeth Jane CANNON in their trees?
Rhio, Gig Harbor, WA
I have a reference to Jane CANNON b Sep 24, 1823 (place unk) and her sister
Elizabeth E CANNON b Mar 11 1832 in Troy, Lincoln Co, MO.
They are children of
John CANNON, b 3/16/1790 in Roberston Co, TN, d. 6/13/1871 in Troy, Lincoln
Co., MO. and married Jane Knox (1794-1883) on 1/28/1813, Christian Co., KY
They were in Tennesee around that time and moved on to Missouri. If neither
of these are your CANNON, it's possible they were related.

Hi Rod,
Yes, I believe you are correct as this being your line re Mary Cannon
marrying who married Jacob Pennington. I have another chart somewhere
in all my papers that I have been unsucessful in finding. I can't imagine
what I did with it! It lists a couple of different lines from MD to SC to
GA
and Al. Mary's line is charted but it incomplete.
This Samuel you speak of being son of John Cannon, may be the
Samuel that another list member, Greg Aymond, is searching for. There
was another Samuel listed on the 1800 census from Georgetown, SC.
Then on the 1860 census are two Samuel W.s, one from Newberry, the other
from Marion Co., SC.
Looking at the 1800 SC census Index, there were a number of
Cannons
in Newberry...
Ephraim, pg 69.....Issac, pg 70....John, pg 69...pg70...Pg
71....
Samuel, pg 69....Uriah, pg 70
To me, this says they all lived in the same area and must be
children,
grandchildren, and parents.
In Spartanburg.....
Ellis, pg 173....Henry, pg 185....Jesse, pg 173....Lewis,pg
174,
Mason, pg 175
All of these were brothers, sons of John Cannon and Sarah
Hammet
Broderick Cannon. They also had daughters Elizabeth, Sarah, and Lydia.
Other sons were John, James and William.
More later.

While several messages are circulating about Samuel CANNONs, please
think of my missing Samuel again.
According to his tombstone, Samuel H. CANNON was born in 1805. Census
records state that he was born in SC. He was in St. Tammany Parish,
Louisiana by 1825, when and where he married Margaret E. JOYNER (dau. of
Absolom JOYNER, who was also born in SC). Margaret was born in Ga. Samuel
died in 1852 in Rapides Parish. We know nothing else on him. We don't even
know who his parents or siblings were or where he was born in SC. We don't
even know what the "H" stands for. He named his children: John George;
Charles E.; Sarah D.; Samuel Thompson; and Thomas Green D. Has anyone run
across my Samuel H. CANNON ?? Greg.................
Samuel Cannon was born in Anderson County, SC in 1844, was in the

Dale Cemetery, Hill Co. TX. Do not know his parents nor his siblings.
Noticed msg from joyemac indicating Cannon recordsfrom Mrs. Lola Casey
Copeland, native of Anderson Co., SC.
Is it possible she could be a connection to my Samuel Cannon. Thanks

I posted the following sometime ago and thought I'd post again for those of
you who joined us recently.
'John Cannon came to American from Ireland about 1740 (45). He was
born in Ireland in 1715. Two brother came with him - John Cannon settled in

other brother settled in
Spartanburg Co, SC.
Isaac Cannon, a son of John was born June 6th, 1759, and died Aug.
9th, 1808. Isaac married Sarah Speakes and served in the Revolutionary War.
He barely escaped the Massacre of Hayes Station, having left there just
before the terrible tragedy. Isaac's wife, Sarah Speakes Cannon, was born
Feb 9th, 1766, died sept 24th 1840. (Look in Newberry Court House for more

names Speakes - most
of them are buried at old Bush River Church, Newberry Co., SC
The above record is from Mrs. Lola Casey Copeland, a native of
Anderson
Co. SC.
Record from tombmarkers at Old Hpewell Cemetery(many now destroyed) 1962.
Isaac Cannon born Dec. 31, 1809 Died Aug. 11, 1857.
Wife of Isaac Cannon: Susan (Hunter) Cannon born Nov. 25, 1813, d. Jan
