My husband is a descendant of Thurston Polk Cannon. I am presently reading
The Entailed Hat which describes the life of Patty Cannon. She is
supposedly the sister in law of Jacob and Isaac Cannon of the Cannon Ferry
in Woodland. Her husband's name in the book is listed as Alonzo Cannon.
But he is not in any of the information I have regarding Jacob and Isaac's
siblings. Does anyone know anything about her relationship to Jacob and
Isaac Cannon? I'm confused.
Since the Cannon list has gotten so active lately, I thought I would try
again with my husbands troublesome ancestor. All we have on him is his
name, William Riley Cannon, and place of birth Little Rock, Arkansas.
He married in 1864 in the California gold rush country and lived out the
rest of his life in Sonoma County California. I have seen the name
"Riley" used frequently with other Cannon males. I don't know if this
is family related or just Irish. Can anyone help???

I am searching for information on Susan CANNON, She was born about 1842, in
NC as per the 1880 census. She was shown as being 38 years old then. She
died in about 1905 in Hosford, Liberty Co. Florida and is buried in the
cemetery there. She married Elbert "Abe" SANDERS on 9 April 1863 in Bristol,
Liberty Co. Florida. I show they had 13 children.
Their daughter, (Susan) Louisa SANDERS, born 22 Sept 1865, Hosford.
Liberty Co., FL married Jasper KYLE on 25 Dec 1882. She died 17 Oct 1941 and
is buried in Hosford, Liberty Co., FL.
Jasper and Lou (as she was known) KYLE were my husband's grandparents and we
are trying to tie up the loose limbs on his family tree. Jasper disappeared
about 1903 and little is known about him. Lou stayed on in Hosford and raised
their seven children.
Any information on the parents and siblings of Susan A. CANNON would be
greatly
appreciated.

Hi Jerry:
I am writing because I have CANNON in Mercer County, Kentucky....but like
you, I don't know a lot about them. They are VERY hard to find...at least
for me!!!
But I think you are in luck because I have some old genealogical data from a
lady who I don't believe is living anymore. Nevertheless she has some
information about John Wesley CANNON, who was a Grandson of William CANNON,
and he is from Ohio County, Kentucky. The Grandson says William was born in
Ireland and arrived in Mercer County in 1773.
Her direct line goes to Charles C. CANNON, youngest and last son of George
CANNON and Malinda.
Don't know if this is who you are looking for but I'll tell you who I'm
looking for in Mercer County......My ancestor was Robert CANNON whose wife
was Elizabeth ?. Their daughter, Mary "Polly" CANNON married John CHAMPION
in Mercer County, KY 13 November 1794. Mary moved to Indiana and Illinois
with her daughter, Ruth and husband, William McMURTRY to Crawford Co.,
Indiana and Knox County, Illinois. Send me your snail mail address so I can
send you copies of this information. Maybe they're yours....there is a
Group sheet and it shows William's wives were Mary Mays and Anne
Mays....(sisters) and when William died about 1813-1814 Anne Mays CANNON m.
James THOMPSON 12 August 1815.
There are about 11 pages if you want them.

Hello everyone,
My name is Jerry Cannon from Snellville, Ga.
I am interested in validating and moving forward ( actually backwards )
from one Nathan Thomas CANNON. If anyone can help, Lord knows, I'll be
greatful.
Here's what I know, or think I know.
Nathan or Nathaniel Thomas Cannon was born in Ohio County Ky, circa
1842.
He enlisted in Company A. 2nd Kentucky Infantry Regiment ( CSA ) at Camp
Boone, Tennesse in July of 1861. He fought with the "Orphan Brigade"
through the Atlanta Campaign, earning a battle field commission to
Ensign, as he was the color bearer.
He was severely wounded in the battle of Dallas Ga, but stayed with the
unit. The unit became mounted after the fall of Atlanta, and when
General John Bell Hood abandoned Georgia, the Orphans continued to
shadow Gen. W.T. Sherman. To shorten this story,
N.T. CANNON surrendered to the Federals at Washington, Ga. N.T. CANNON
left Washington for Lincolnton, Ga. where he married Mary Susan HARMON.
N.T. CANNON died December 1917 in Augusta, Georgia. He and his wife are
buried in Westview Cemetary.
Here is what my great aunt put to pin in the early 1960's.
Unfortunately she's too old to remember.
"John Wesley Born Sept 18, 1829 Ohio Co Ky, 1861 enlisted Co F 17th Ky
Vol Inf.
Father John CANNON born 1804 Mercer Co Ky died 1872 son of William
CANNON native of Ireland. John married Nancy, daughter of Daniel &
Francis Iler of Ohio Co. who died 1862 age 55. Granpa's parents".
I can't verify this data not to mention make a whole lot of since with
it.
If anyone can help me piece this togeather, I would be most greatful.
Sincerely,
Jerry Cannon
Snellville, Ga.
